Ohio REALTORS is marking September as REALTOR Safety Month, encouraging real estate professionals to prioritize safety in their daily work. The organization highlights the importance of maintaining a culture of safety throughout the year, not just during this designated month.

"September is REALTOR Safety Month, a time to focus on fostering a stronger culture of safety in our industry. This month provides an opportunity to talk about safety, create and follow a safety plan, and encourage your fellow REALTORS to do the same. Safety isn’t just important in September — it matters year-round," Ohio REALTORS stated.

To support its members, Ohio REALTORS has partnered with Tether RE to offer discounts on tools designed for agent protection before, during, and after property showings. Members are encouraged to learn more about these benefits through the association's resources.

The organization also provides guidance on developing effective safety strategies. Recommendations include being prepared for emergencies, limiting office key access, staying alert at open houses, avoiding distractions while driving, and consulting additional resources available on their REALTOR safety website.

Nationally, the National Association of REALTORS offers comprehensive safety information for agents. Their online platform nar.realtor/safety includes tips and details about partnerships that aim to enhance member security both onsite and virtually.

"In summary: trust your instincts, show strength, and always stay aware of your surroundings," Ohio REALTORS advised its members.
