On April 15, U.S. Senator Jon Husted met with Ohio REALTORS members and staff during a meet and greet hosted by the National REALTOR Party. The event, attended by local and state association leadership, volunteers, and staff, was held at the Ohio REALTORS office.
Senator Husted used the occasion to outline his legislative priorities and gave attendees a chance to discuss community-related issues in one-on-one conversations. He shared his experience transitioning from state government to the U.S. Senate, expressing his commitment to serving Ohio on a federal level and his interest in future Senate work.
Attendees took the opportunity to engage with Husted, focusing mainly on Ohio's housing market and possible policy solutions to state challenges. Drawing from his experience in Ohio state government, Husted provided insights into federal policy support for the state's housing initiatives.
A significant point of discussion was the high costs related to homebuilding. Husted emphasized the need to address local and state regulations that pose costly obstacles to housing development. He indicated a desire to streamline the planning process, reduce regulatory barriers, and make affordable housing more accessible to builders and consumers.
The REALTOR Party, a non-partisan alliance of REALTORS and REALTOR Associations, aims to protect homeownership and property investment. It advocates for real estate issues that benefit REALTORS, promoting candidates and policies that bolster community strength and support a vibrant business environment.
