Ohio housing market sees growth in October with increased sales

Ohio's housing market experienced growth in October, with sales rising by 4.8% compared to the same month last year, according to Ohio REALTORS. The number of homes sold reached 11,717, up from 11,176 in October 2023. The average sales price also increased by 6.1%, reaching $290,223 compared to $273,554 a year ago.

"Home sales rose by an impressive 4.8% in October, a clear sign of growing confidence and momentum in the market,” stated Ohio REALTORS President Ali Whitley. “Additionally, we continue to see average sales price and dollar volume increase, showing that owning a home remains a great investment. An Ohio REALTOR is a professional partner, guiding buyers and sellers through the intricate process of home buying and selling to achieve their housing goals successfully.”

In October, 13 out of the 14 markets tracked saw an increase in average sale prices compared to the previous year. For the first ten months of the year, home sales activity increased by 0.9% compared to January-October 2023. Year-to-date sales for January-October 2024 were recorded at 110,785 homes sold, up from 109,828 during the same period last year. The average sales price for this period was $291,616, marking a 7.2% rise from $271,981 a year earlier.

The data provided by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums/co-ops across Ohio.
