The Ohio State University has been recognized for its commitment to diversity and inclusion in health sciences education. Insight Into Diversity magazine awarded the 2024 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award to seven of Ohio State's health sciences graduate programs.

The award was given to the College of Dentistry, College of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Optometry, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health, and College of Veterinary Medicine. Notably, Ohio State is the only academic institution nationwide with seven graduate programs receiving this recognition.

Karla Zadnik, interim executive vice president and provost at Ohio State, emphasized the importance of inclusive success: “Enabling success for students and faculty of all backgrounds helps ensure our research, clinical care and future practitioners can be best equipped to serve diverse communities and patient populations,” she said. “I am proud that Ohio State’s health sciences colleges enable all to fully participate in the life of our campuses.”

The HEED Award is a national accolade recognizing U.S. health colleges and universities for their diversity and inclusion efforts. Applicants are subjected to a thorough review process evaluating initiatives aimed at supporting students and employees.

Ohio State will be featured in Insight Into Diversity magazine's November/December 2024 issue.
