The Ohio State University has announced that Aravind Chandrasekaran will serve as the interim dean of the Max M. Fisher College of Business for a two-year term starting June 1, pending approval from the university’s Board of Trustees. Chandrasekaran will also hold the John W. Berry, Sr. Chair in Business. Since joining the faculty in 2009, he has served as senior associate dean and Fisher Distinguished Professor of Operations.
Ravi V. Bellamkonda, Executive Vice President and Provost, expressed confidence in Chandrasekaran's appointment: “During my first few months at Ohio State, I have heard from many of Fisher’s highly engaged faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and industry partners about their ambition for the college and its potential for continued growth...I am thrilled to have AC in place as the right leader for this moment.”
Chandrasekaran is set to lead one of the nation's top public business schools with efforts focused on enhancing organizational performance alongside colleagues and industry partners. The college is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report across various programs including undergraduate (7th among public universities), full-time MBA (8th), and Working Professional MBA (5th).
“I am deeply honored to serve as the interim dean of the Fisher College of Business,” said Chandrasekaran. “Fisher has a strong legacy of excellence...Our scale and volume are a source of strength.”
Under his leadership, Fisher aims to innovate its undergraduate experience through experiential learning integrated with AI applications; nurture thought leaders within its faculty; enhance industry connections; and envision future physical environments conducive to learning.
Chandrasekaran's research spans health care operations, product innovation, AI application in operational excellence, organizational learning, published in journals like Management Science and Harvard Business Review.
Previously serving as associate dean for graduate programs at Fisher, he managed various master's programs including custom teaching initiatives with organizations such as Tata Consultancy Services.
He succeeds Trevor Brown who served as interim dean over this past academic year while being dean at John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
“Please join me in welcoming AC to his new role,” Bellamkonda added. “Guided by his leadership...the college will be poised for continued success.”
