City of Delaware issued the following announcement on Jan. 5.
It's National Trivia Day! Test your Delaware knowledge with these facts!
1. Before it was destroyed by fire in 1934, the old Delaware City Hall contained a jail, horse stalls and even an opera house. The original building, located on the site of the current City Hall, opened in 1882 and housed all City functions, including police and fire – even the horses to pull the fire wagons - and a 1,500-seat opera house.

2. The City of Delaware’s official flower is the petunia. The petunia was designated as the official flower in 1930.

3. Blue Limestone Park, one of Delaware’s 26 municipal parks, was once a stone quarry. The quarry provided much of the uniquely blue shaded limestone for local buildings and homes before closing in the early 1900s.
