Rep. Joyce Beatty, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 3rd district, recently shared her thoughts on social media regarding significant national issues and personal tributes. Beatty, who has been in office since 2013 after succeeding Mike Turner, took to Twitter to express her concerns and commemorate influential figures.
On February 21, 2025, Rep. Beatty voiced her apprehension about Kash Patel's confirmation as Director of the FBI. She stated that "Kash Patel’s confirmation as Director of the FBI poses a grave risk to the future of our justice system." She further criticized Patel for his defense of January 6th insurrectionists and his advocacy for behavior she deemed illegal and reckless.
Later that day, Beatty paid tribute to John Lewis on what would have been his 85th birthday. In her tweet, she remarked, "Today, on his 85th heavenly birthday, I am proud to honor the legacy of my friend, former colleague, and esteemed civil rights activist, John Lewis." She encouraged action in memory of Lewis by engaging in 'good trouble' to protect America's civil rights.
