Joyce Beatty discusses legislative priorities and local banking support in recent updates

U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty, who represents Ohio’s 3rd district in Congress, recently shared updates on her legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.

On September 16, 2025, Beatty announced her continued involvement as Honorary Co-Chair of the Women’s Faces of Courage Conference. She stated, "ICYMI: I returned as Honorary Co-Chair of the Women’s Faces of Courage Conference—reaffirming my fight for women and families against Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that slashes health care and vital services for them and so many other Ohioans."

The following day, on September 17, 2025, Beatty highlighted progress on one of her legislative initiatives. She wrote, "This week, my bill, H.R. 3234, the Keeping Deposits Local Act, passed unanimously through @USHouseFSC markup. This bill will free up capital for MDIs, CDFIs, and rural banks to lend to small businesses, homebuyers, and nonprofits. Promoting small banks leads to local economic".

Later that same day, she also posted about meeting with financial leaders in Ohio: "I was happy to meet with the PNC Regional Presidents for Ohio to discuss workforce development, job retention, housing solutions, and how we can continue to support our local banks."

Joyce Beatty has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Mike Turner. Before joining Congress she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. Born in Dayton in 1950 and currently residing in Columbus at age 73, Beatty graduated from Central State University with a BA in 1972.
