This week, U.S. Representative Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, supported three pro-cryptocurrency bills in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bills include the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act. Rep. Carey also advocated for pro-crypto policies during a Ways and Means Subcommittee hearing.
“Every year, more Americans are adding digital assets to their portfolios and more businesses are preparing to innovate with cryptocurrency,” Rep. Carey stated. “Seeing the growth and demand for crypto integration into our financial system is what led me to lead the first-ever cryptocurrency legislation through Congress and why we needed to pass these bills.”
Rep. Carey emphasized his leadership in cryptocurrency during a Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight hearing focused on crypto’s future in America.
On Thursday, he voted to pass the GENIUS Act, CLARITY Act, and Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act through the House of Representatives. These pieces of legislation aim to integrate stablecoins into the U.S. economy, establish a market structure for digital asset use, and prevent issuing a U.S.-backed CBDC.
Earlier this year, Rep. Carey led successful efforts to pass groundbreaking cryptocurrency legislation signed into law by President Trump in April. His previous legislation repealed an IRS rule that would have complicated digital asset transactions.
