Rep. Joyce Beatty, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 3rd district since 2013, used her social media platform on July 17, 2025, to criticize proposed Trump administration budget cuts and Republican-backed rescissions targeting public broadcasting and humanitarian aid.

On July 17, Beatty posted about efforts to reduce funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), stating: "Efforts from the Trump Admin to slash funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), is an attack on the accessible educational resources Ohioans rely on. That's why I joined a letter with Rep. Betty McCollum and 45 Members of Congress, urging Trump to reconsider."

Later that day, she addressed potential waste related to humanitarian aid cuts: "As Republicans push Trump’s rescissions slashing humanitarian aid, the State Dept is set to waste $100K destroying 500 metric tons of food. Food that could feed the hungry and boost global stability. Tell me—who’s really wasting taxpayer dollars? Make it make sense:"

In a subsequent post on July 17, Beatty commented on anticipated congressional approval of President Trump's recissions package: "Republicans' likely approval of President Trump's recissions package tonight isn’t just a rubber stamp of DOGE’s devastating cuts – it’s an attack on the resources Americans were promised and House Republicans voted for."

Joyce Beatty has represented Ohio's 3rd District in Congress since replacing Mike Turner in 2013 and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. Born in Dayton in 1950 and currently residing in Columbus, Beatty graduated from Central State University with a BA in 1972.
