Today, U.S. Representative Mike Carey announced a significant grant award for Franklin County. The $25 million Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be directed towards infrastructure improvements in the county.

The project aims to replace two bridges along Alum Creek Drive and widen the road, easing traffic between State Route 317 and Groveport Road. This funding is part of Fiscal Year 2025 appropriations, which Rep. Carey supported.

"I am thrilled to see $25 million that I helped secure reach Franklin County," stated Rep. Carey. "This money will be a direct benefit for our residents by adding a third lane each way on Alum Creek Drive and making it easier for residents to get between SR-317 and Groveport Road."

The grant details include widening Alum Creek Drive with an additional lane in each direction over a stretch of approximately 2.6 miles. It also involves constructing pedestrian facilities like sidewalks and shared-use paths, alongside replacing two bridges over Big Walnut Creek.
