Ohio REALTORS, in collaboration with the Greater Ohio Policy Center (GOPC), introduced the "Housing Ohio: Tools for Development" at a press event held at the Ohio Statehouse. The toolkit aims to aid Ohio communities in developing accessible and high-quality housing solutions.
The toolkit offers several resources: guidance on zoning adjustments to ease development barriers, two free building plans to cut costs and accelerate development timeframes, and a guide for establishing local pre-approved plans programs to streamline permitting and reduce developer costs.
"Housing Ohio: Tools for Development is a game-changer. By providing a streamlined approach to home design and development, this resource empowers local leaders, builders, and policymakers to create high-quality, attainable housing efficiently while preserving architectural integrity. Ohio REALTORS is proud to collaborate with the Greater Ohio Policy Center on this innovative tool to help meet the evolving needs of Ohio’s housing market," said Ohio REALTORS President Michelle Billings.
Speakers at the press conference included Senator Michelle Reynolds, Mayor Sharetta Smith from the City of Lima, Ohio REALTORS President Michelle Billings, Patrick Bravo, President of the Ohio Land Bank Association, and Erica Spaid Patras from the Greater Ohio Policy Center.
The introduction of the Housing Ohio toolkit is seen as a crucial development in meeting the state's growing housing needs. Ohio REALTORS, the state's largest professional trade association with over 36,000 members, and the Greater Ohio Policy Center, encourage community leaders and policymakers to utilize the toolkit for local housing initiatives.
