Ohio sees increase in home sales and prices at end of December

Ohio's housing market showed growth in December 2024, with home sales rising by 6.3% compared to the same month in the previous year, according to Ohio REALTORS. The total number of homes sold reached 9,890, up from 9,306 in December 2023. Additionally, the average sales price increased by 9.3%, reaching $288,707 compared to $264,094 a year earlier.

"Ohio's housing market continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience and growth," stated Michelle Billings, President of Ohio REALTORS. "With a 6.3% increase in home sales and a 9.3% rise in average sales prices compared to last year, it's clear that our state remains a strong and vibrant place for families and businesses alike."

The data indicates that out of the 14 markets tracked across the state, 11 experienced an increase in average sale prices during December compared to the previous year.

For the entire year of 2024, Ohio saw an overall increase of 2.1% in home sales activity compared to January-December 2023. The total number of homes sold over this period was 131,716, up from 129,064 the previous year.

The average sales price for all of 2024 was $291,062, marking a rise of 7.3% from $271,321 recorded in 2023.
