Rep. Joyce Beatty, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 3rd district since 2013, shared several significant updates through her Twitter account recently.
On November 22, Rep. Beatty highlighted a new legislative initiative co-sponsored with Rep. Young Kim aimed at aiding U.S. exporters in their competition with China. The bill involves updated default rate rules for the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EximBank). She mentioned that this effort was featured in Politico's Morning Money newsletter: "As featured in @politico's MorningMoney, my new bill with @RepYoungKim helps U.S. exporters compete with China through updated @EximBankUS default rate rules."
On November 25, she commemorated Rosa Parks' historic act of defiance on a Montgomery bus nearly seventy years ago and reminded followers of her role as a state representative in authoring legislation that made Ohio the first state to recognize Rosa Parks Day: "Nearly 70 years ago, Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat changed history. As a state representative, I authored legislation making Ohio the first state to recognize Rosa Parks Day." She encouraged others to honor Parks’ legacy and consider future actions.
Later that day, Beatty addressed the issue of violence against women and emphasized the importance of speaking out against harmful rhetoric online post-election: "Today is a reminder to call out violent words that fuel violence against women. I joined @DemWomenCaucus to condemn disturbing post-election speech online." She cited statistics indicating that one in three women globally experience physical or sexual violence and stressed that silence is not an option.
