Senator JD Vance of Ohio recently expressed concerns over U.S. funding for Ukraine amidst a potential government shutdown. Speaking on "Human Events Daily," Vance highlighted the political tensions surrounding financial support for Ukraine, specifically addressing President Volodymyr Zelensky's requests.

Vance commented on Zelensky's demands: “This guy is basically coming and saying if you don’t give me my $25 billion, I’m going to shut down your government.” He further explained that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would not fund the government unless it includes money for Ukraine. According to Vance, this situation has created a dilemma between funding domestic services such as Border Patrol agents or allocating $25 billion to Ukraine.

On the topic of ongoing financial support to Ukraine, Vance questioned future commitments: “What do we give them next? At what point do you have U.S. Senators recommending that we give them tactical nuclear weapons?” He described such possibilities as "psychotic" given previous actions.

Addressing military resources and international relations, Vance noted: “We’re sending all those missiles and munitions to Ukraine and not preserving them for our own use." He argued that this could weaken U.S. defense capabilities while escalating conflict in Europe. Highlighting concerns about China’s perception of American strength, he stated that current policies may undermine national security rather than reinforce it.
