Earlier this week, Master Coach Marilou Butcher Roth introduced the concept of "self transparency" during a conversation with one of her coaching clients. She noted that while society often emphasizes transparency in various sectors like governance and business, individuals may neglect being transparent with themselves.

Roth suggests that self-reflection is crucial to understanding one's feelings and actions. "If we are consistently looking outside of ourselves, we are missing out not only on major learnings but the real juice of life!" she stated. She advises practicing self-awareness by alternating focus between external surroundings and internal states.

To illustrate this practice, Roth describes an exercise where individuals observe their immediate environment and then shift their attention inward. This process aims to enhance one's ability to access personal insights and become more self-aware.

Roth believes developing this skill helps individuals address deeper questions about desires and behavioral patterns. "Tuning in brings you to deeper questions of 'what do I really want' and 'how is this particular pattern serving me,'" she explained.

She encourages keeping reminders visible to facilitate this habit, emphasizing simplicity and enjoyment in the process.
