Ohio REALTORS played a key role in sponsoring the Midwest Japanese Conference earlier this month. This event brought together over 40 CEOs and business leaders to discuss the evolving economic ties between the U.S. Midwest and Japan. Held annually for over five decades, this conference highlights the importance of real estate in economic growth and the potential of international partnerships.

The conference began in 1967 with an inaugural meeting in Chicago between the Japan Committee for Economic Development and the Chicago Association of Commerce & Industry. Since then, it has evolved into a premier forum for discussing bilateral trade and investment opportunities. At the 53rd Joint Meeting held in Tokyo in September 2023, high-profile participants—including governors from five Midwestern states and executives from companies such as Eli Lilly Japan, Kiewit Energy Group, and Toyota Motor Corp—emphasized its status as a vital platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration.

As one of the ten member states in the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association, Ohio is committed to understanding Japan’s markets better and enhancing its investment potential. Through events like these, Ohio REALTORS continues to promote real estate's role in international economic development, building stronger partnerships that benefit both regions.
