Ohio home sales rise by nearly seven percent in July

According to Ohio REALTORS, the Ohio housing market saw increased activity in July, with sales and home prices rising compared to last year.

Home sales in July 2024 reached 12,588, a 6.9% increase from the 11,779 recorded during the month a year ago. The average sales price across Ohio in July reached $304,802, a 6.4% increase from the $286,390 mark posted in July 2023.

"July 2024 was a strong month for Ohio's real estate market, with home sales and home prices up over last year. This demonstrates the growing confidence and stability within our housing sector,” says Ohio REALTORS President Ali Whitley. “An Ohio REALTOR serves as a professional partner, guiding buyers and sellers through the intricate process of home buying and selling, to successfully achieve their housing goals.”

Around the state, 13 out of 14 markets tracked experienced an increase in average sale price for the month compared to July 2023.

During the first seven months of the year, home sales activity was up 1.6% compared to January-July 2023. Year-to-date sales (January-July 2024) reached 74,972, up from the 73,783 homes sold a year ago. The average sales price during this period is $290,236, a 7.8% increase from the $269,297 mark set a year ago.

Data provided to Ohio REALTORS by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums/co-ops.
