City of Whitehall issued the following announcement on Mar 16.
Central Ohio and Whitehall are changing, and fast. While change can sometimes be difficult, it brings the promise of new opportunities and the possibility of something even better for our future. So as our region changes, and as we welcome new community members, I am committed to building up opportunity for everyone in Whitehall. This is, of course, no small task and will take a holistic approach with our community and other partners engaged at every level.
The 2021 Annual Report is a testament to this commitment. In 2021, we built up new housing and development, we worked toward a safer Whitehall and we reopened for recreation and community activities: all with an eye toward inclusiveness. We welcomed new market rate apartments, while adopting source of income protection legislation and working with the Central Ohio Community Improvement Corporation (COCIC) on new affordable single-family home ownership opportunities. We welcomed a new farmers market, while working with vendors to accept SNAP and other benefits to make the market and its bounty accessible to anyone regardless of income level. We welcomed thousands of community members to events like the Whitehall Food Truck & Fun Fest and National Night Out, while launching a youth diversion program. We welcomed the largest capital improvement season in our City’s history, while also working with local artists to bring a new mural to life and assisting Whitehall homeowners with over $150,000 in grant funding.
So while the pandemic continued to pose many challenges in 2021, straining financial and other resources, we saw momentum continue to build on multiple fronts. But with so much on the horizon, and so many new changes to welcome, we still have much work to do. We look forward to building up more opportunities with you in the year to come.
In service, Mayor Kim Maggard
