Congressman Mike Carey addresses government shutdown and Hamas attack anniversary

Congressman Mike Carey, who represents Ohio’s 15th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing both the ongoing government shutdown and the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.

On October 6, 2025, Carey stated, "I voted to keep the government open, and I want it to reopen quickly. While the government is shut down, my offices remain open to serve our constituents. Give us a call or visit my website for answers on how the shutdown affects you."

The following day, he reflected on the second anniversary of the Hamas attack in Israel. On October 7, 2025, Carey wrote, "2 years ago, the world watched as Hamas terrorists invaded Israel to murder more than a thousand innocent men, women, children, and elderly while taking hundreds more hostage. This included American citizens. As we hope for a peace deal and an end to the war Hamas started, we".

On October 8, 2025, Carey reiterated his position regarding government funding: "I voted alongside my fellow @HouseGOP colleagues to keep the government open on September 19th. I want us to reopen immediately, and encourage all senators to pass our clean funding bill to keep our troops paid and prevent critical service delays."

Carey has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Steve Stivers as representative for Ohio’s 15th district. He was born in Sabina, Ohio in 1971 and currently resides in Columbus. Carey graduated from Ohio State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
