U.S. Representative Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15) has issued a statement following reports that Imam Abdel Moneim Dobal of the Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Dublin, Ohio, expressed support for Hamas after the October 7 attacks in Gaza. The attacks resulted in more than a thousand deaths and hundreds taken hostage.
In his statement, Rep. Carey said, “I wholeheartedly condemn calls for violence against Jews in Israel by supporting Hamas terrorists. Recently, the world has seen people acting on hateful antisemitic rhetoric, with an attack on Jews at a synagogue in Manchester, England last week; two Jews being targeted and murdered in cold blood in Washington, D.C.; and pro-Israel activists being firebombed in Denver. We have also seen anti-Israel mobs form on college campuses across America, and even outside my own home in Central Ohio. Support for terrorist organizations like Hamas should be rejected.”
Mike Carey has served as the representative for Ohio’s 15th congressional district since 2021, succeeding Steve Stivers. He was born in Sabina, Ohio, in 1971 and currently lives in Columbus. Carey graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993.
