Representative Josh Williams, who serves Ohio's 41st district in the state legislature, addressed issues of violence and community safety in a series of posts on September 10, 2025. In his statements, Williams commented on the causes of violent crime and highlighted educational initiatives in his district.
In one post from September 10, Williams stated, "Scapegoating “white supremacy” for the epidemic of violence may be convenient for people like Jasmine Crockett, but it ignores the actual truth: if we don’t rebuild strong families, we’ll never rebuild safe communities."
He followed up with another post on the same day citing federal crime statistics: "Look at the data: FBI Uniform Crime Reports show most violent crimes are assaults, robberies, and homicides tied to poverty, drugs, gangs, or domestic disputes. Hate crimes — where white supremacy would show up — make up less than 1% of all violent crime nationally."
Later that afternoon, Williams shifted focus to education by praising a local program: "LifeWise Academy in Defiance is teaching 800+ students each week lessons in faith, character & leadership that will last a lifetime & strengthen our next generation. Grateful for the chance to sit in on a class & witness firsthand the meaningful impact of this program."
Williams has previously emphasized family values and community-based solutions as part of his legislative agenda. According to public records and news reports, he has supported initiatives aimed at strengthening family structures and expanding educational opportunities within Ohio’s 41st district.
The FBI Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program tracks national crime trends. Data from recent years confirm that hate crimes constitute a small percentage of total violent offenses nationwide. The majority of violent crimes reported are related to factors such as poverty and domestic disputes rather than hate-motivated incidents.
LifeWise Academy is an organization providing Bible-based character education during school hours with parental permission. The program operates in multiple districts across Ohio and other states.
