U.S. Rep. Mike Carey (R-Ohio-15) participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new memorial wall in Lockbourne, Ohio, that will honor servicemembers who spent time at Lockbourne and Rickenbacker Air Force Base since World War II. The memorial will recognize groups such as the Tuskegee Airmen, Women Air Service Pilots (WASPs), and Lima Company, which served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following the ceremony, Rep. Carey toured Rickenbacker Air Force Base and met with members of the Ohio Air National Guard 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base.
“It was an honor to break ground and pay tribute to so many American military heroes who have come through Lockbourne since World War II. Many of these heroes made the ultimate sacrifice, and it is fitting they receive such a solemn memorial,” Rep. Carey said. “It was also great to meet with leaders of the 121st Air Refueling Wing at Rickenbacker and see the work they are doing to support our national defense and keep our country safe.”
Rep. Carey has represented Ohio’s 15th congressional district since 2021, after succeeding Steve Stivers (https://www.congress.gov/member/mike-carey/C001224). He was born in Sabina, Ohio in 1971 and currently resides in Columbus. Carey graduated from Ohio State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
