Rep. Joyce Beatty, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 3rd district since 2013, has recently posted a series of statements on social media criticizing state and national Republican policies, focusing on the deployment of the Ohio National Guard, electricity rate increases, and rising costs for families.

On August 17, 2025, Beatty expressed her concerns about the deployment of state troops to Washington D.C., stating: "I am disappointed that Governor DeWine has chosen to send Ohio National Guard troops to support Trump’s militarization efforts in D.C. The men and women of Ohio’s National Guard signed up to serve their country, not a lawless President who repeatedly ignores our nation’s".

The following day, August 18, she addressed an increase in electricity prices in Ohio attributed to recent legislation: "The Republican Rate Hike is hidden in the so-called 'One Big Beautiful Act' But there's nothing beautiful about a 50% hike in electricity prices for Ohioans! The Republican Rate Hike — needs to take a hike!"

On August 19, Beatty commented on economic pressures facing American families during back-to-school season: "The cost of living is skyrocketing under the economic agenda of Trump and Republicans — and it's hitting YOUR critical back-to-school shopping. Whether it's colored pencils or school lunch essentials, it's clear: the Republican economic agenda, does NOT work for Americans."

Joyce Beatty was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1950 and currently resides in Columbus. She previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008 before being elected to Congress. Beatty graduated from Central State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
