U.S. Representatives Mike Carey, Greg Landsman, and Max Miller have introduced the Infertility Treatment Affordability Act in Washington, D.C. This proposed legislation aims to create a new tax credit for parents undergoing infertility treatments.

"Our bipartisan tax legislation makes it easier for families to grow and directly matches other pro-family policies. It gives parents more financial freedom to choose the best way to have children," Rep. Carey stated. He emphasized the importance of making family growth more accessible as part of the American Dream.

Rep. Landsman highlighted the financial relief this bill would provide: "When families are struggling to have a child, they shouldn’t have to worry about how they’ll afford the care they need." He added that this tax credit offers real options without overwhelming costs.

Rep. Miller expressed his support by saying, "Every American deserves the opportunity to build a family, and that shouldn’t be limited by income, geography, or insurance coverage." He noted that the bill is modeled after the Adoption Tax Credit and provides hope for families waiting to have a child.

Miguel Fernández Alcalde from EMD Serono praised the initiative: "We applaud Representatives Carey, Landsman, and Miller for working across the aisle to alleviate the financial burden of infertility treatments."

Danielle Melfi from RESOLVE also supported this effort: "We know the biggest barrier that families face are out-of-pocket medical costs."

The act proposes a partially refundable tax credit up to $5,000 starting after December 31, 2024. It mirrors provisions of an adoption tax credit included in recent Republican legislation signed on July 4, 2025.
