Ohio State athletics director discusses future of college sports

Ohio State University's Athletics Director, Ross Bjork, has addressed the university's fans and supporters regarding changes in college athletics. In a letter dated July 1, Bjork reflected on his first year as Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation-Eugene Smith Endowed Director of Athletics.

Bjork emphasized the efforts made to enhance the student-athlete experience, prioritize fan engagement, and provide leadership across all 36 programs. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the Ohio State community over the past year.

Acknowledging rapid changes in college athletics, Bjork highlighted Ohio State's commitment to leading discussions on modernizing intercollegiate athletics. "Through it all, we’ve stayed focused on what matters most: doing right by our student-athletes and representing Ohio State with excellence in all facets of athletics and our business advancement units," he stated.

Bjork reiterated Ohio State's dedication to academic excellence among its student-athletes. "I’m proud to share that our student-athletes continue to set the standard not just in competition, but in the classroom," he noted.

Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, Bjork mentioned ongoing investments in facilities and support for student-athlete development. He encouraged continued support from fans through donations, ticket purchases, merchandise sales, and engagement with Buckeye Sports Group.

Concluding his message, Bjork expressed pride in leading Ohio State's athletics department and being part of its community. "Thank you for the support, the passion, the unwavering belief in what we can achieve together," he wrote.
