U.S. Representative Mike Carey visited two significant sites in Franklin County, Ohio, focusing on health care and historic preservation.
In Columbus, Carey toured the Franklin County Crisis Care Center alongside members of the Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Board (ADAMH) of Franklin County. The center is designed to support individuals dealing with substance use disorder by providing a path to recovery. Recently, Carey voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act, which aims to make permanent the temporary class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances and enhance law enforcement's ability to prevent these substances from entering American communities.
“Thank you to the ADAMH of Franklin County for hosting me at their crisis care center. Far too many Ohioans and their loved ones have been affected by the opioid epidemic, and this facility will help those struggling find a road to sustainable recovery,” said Rep. Carey. “In Congress, I am working on a bipartisan basis with my colleagues to deliver resources back to our communities that will help keep dangerous drugs like fentanyl away from families and assist patients who need help now.”
Carey also visited Canal Winchester to see the O.P. Cheney Grain Elevator, which is undergoing renovation due to its historical importance. He has consistently supported efforts to preserve historic sites across the nation.
“It was so exciting to see the ongoing preservation effort at the Chaney Mill. As a proud supporter of historic preservation, especially in our tax code through my role on the House Ways and Means Committee, I was thrilled to see that we are preserving a piece of our historic grain industry for years to come,” Rep. Carey commented.
