Congressman Mike Carey, representing Ohio's 15th district since 2021, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and diplomatic engagements through a series of tweets. Carey's communications provide insights into his focus areas, including foster care reform, combating illicit fentanyl, and international relations.

On June 12, 2025, Carey emphasized the importance of bipartisan efforts in improving foster care systems. He mentioned participating in a hearing with the Ways and Means Committee where experts and individuals who have experienced the system discussed strategies to create "paths to independence and success for foster youth." "Improving our foster care is something we can accomplish together in a bipartisan way."

Later that day, Carey addressed the issue of illicit fentanyl in America. He announced that the House GOP had passed the HALT Fentanyl Act as part of efforts to combat this drug crisis. In his words: "America has lost too many family members, friends, and loved ones to deadly, illicit fentanyl."

Additionally, Carey highlighted his meeting with Albanian Ambassador Ervin Bushati in Washington D.C., expressing enthusiasm about strengthening bilateral ties between the United States and Albania. He remarked on their discussions aimed at building upon existing relationships: "Great to meet with Albanian Ambassador Ervin Bushati here in DC."

Mike Carey was born in Sabina, Ohio in 1971 and currently resides in Columbus. He holds a BA from Ohio State University.
