Joyce Beatty, a seasoned politician representing Ohio’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2013, recently shared insights on various legislative efforts through her social media platform. Beatty, who has been an advocate for affordable housing and economic inclusion, discussed her ongoing initiatives to address these critical issues.

On June 4, 2025, Rep. Joyce Beatty highlighted her meeting with Ohio REALTORS to deliberate on legislation aimed at providing "more hardworking Ohioan families" with access to safe and affordable housing. She emphasized the need for increased resources to tackle the nation’s housing crisis amidst rising prices and limited supply. "Today, I met with Ohio REALTORS to discuss legislation that will ensure more hardworking Ohioan families have access to safe, affordable housing."

The following day, June 5, 2025, Beatty announced the reintroduction of a bill designed to bolster minority-owned and rural banks across the United States. This initiative is intended to enhance their capacity to serve communities and promote economic inclusion. In her words: " Partnering for Prosperity! I just reintroduced a bill to strengthen minority-owned and rural banks nationwide."

Later that same day, she criticized former President Trump's proposed legislation concerning student loans. According to Beatty's post on June 5th: "Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill means higher payments, fewer protections, and more debt traps for student loan borrowers." She contended that this would result in increased financial burdens for students while benefiting wealthy individuals through tax breaks.

Joyce Beatty was born in Dayton in 1950 and now resides in Columbus. She graduated from Central State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
