On May 12, 2025, Beatty acknowledged Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by emphasizing the importance of these communities' contributions. The following day, May 13, 2025, she expressed gratitude towards military personnel during Military Appreciation Month. Beatty wrote "This #MilitaryAppreciationMonth, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering service of our military members, past and present. From Central Ohio and beyond, your dedication protects our freedoms and strengthens our communities. Thank you for your service."
Later that same day on May 13th, Beatty criticized budget cuts proposed by House Republicans that target food aid programs. She highlighted the broader economic impact of such benefits by stating "As I post this, House Republicans are targeting food aid for kids, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities with their budget cuts. And that’s just the start. Every $1 in SNAP benefits generates $1.50 in economic activity—from farmers and truckers to grocers and tax".
Joyce Beatty was born in Dayton in 1950 and currently resides in Columbus. She is an alumna of Central State University where she graduated with a BA in 1972.
