The House of Representatives passed the Protecting America’s Children by Strengthening Families Act today, with significant support. The legislation includes a provision to support family resource centers, initially introduced by Representative Mike Carey (OH-15) in his bipartisan Promoting Community-Based Prevention Services Act.
“Family resource centers are a lifeline for Ohioans, giving them support in times of need and guidance so they can thrive. We were proud to champion family resource centers in the Ways & Means committee and are pleased to see this bill pass the House floor,” said Carey.
The bill specifically provides states with greater flexibility in allocating funds to family resource centers.
Family resource centers (FRCs) offer community-driven services and spaces at no cost to families. Their offerings range from mental health and substance abuse programs to parenting classes, screening for developmental delays, and early childhood education.
