The House Ways and Means Committee has passed a provision introduced by Congressman Mike Carey (OH-15) aimed at supporting family resource centers. The vote took place during a markup of two child welfare-focused bills.
"Family resource centers can provide a lifeline to families in need. Between reducing the likelihood of abuse and neglect, providing preventative care for addiction and mental health to simply offering a safe, quiet place to do homework, a vote for family resource centers is a vote for our kids," Carey stated. "We are grateful to Chairman Jason Smith, along with our other colleagues on the Ways & Means Committee, for their work to push this important policy forward."
The provision was initially introduced in Carey's Promoting Community-Based Prevention Services Act last month. It was passed as part of the Protecting America’s Children by Strengthening Families Act.
