Representative Mike Carey (R-OH) announced a $41.9 million grant for public transportation improvements in central Ohio. The Department of Transportation will disburse the funds for the West Broad Street Bus Rapid Transportation Project in Franklin County, Ohio.

"Franklin County’s population has exploded in recent years, but unfortunately our transportation infrastructure has not kept up," said Rep. Carey. "This new grant will help ensure that central Ohio has new, low-cost transit options connecting the city of Columbus to the rest of Franklin County."

The West Broad Street Rapid Transportation Project includes constructing 16 new stations and a new park-and-ride transit center. The project aims to provide regions of Columbus with low-cost transportation options similar to those available in other neighborhoods.

Additionally, the project includes funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements in the region.
