House Bill (HB) 315 has unanimously passed the Ohio House of Representatives, according to Ohio REALTORS®. HB 315, this General Assembly’s township omnibus bill, includes a significant provision to establish the Housing Technical Assistance Program.
The bill contains a comprehensive package addressing multiple township issues and aims to tackle Ohio’s housing challenges. The Housing Technical Assistance Program is designed to provide essential funding to local governments for modernizing outdated zoning codes and removing barriers to housing construction. This modernization would streamline the approval process for new housing projects, facilitate increased housing development, and ultimately make housing more affordable for residents.
In their testimony, Ohio REALTORS® emphasized the importance of this initiative. They urged the legislature to consider increasing the funding beyond the initial $1.5 million per year to meet anticipated high demand and ensure successful implementation.
HB 315 will now proceed through the Ohio Senate’s legislative process.
