After nearly 15 years serving the community as Worthington City Manager, Matt Greeson has accepted the position of City Manager with the City of Kettering, Ohio. The Kettering City Council voted on a resolution approving his contract at its meeting on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Greeson’s final day with the City of Worthington is expected to be December 11, 2022.
“Matt has exemplified integrity, dedication to public service, and has demonstrated solid leadership in navigating our community through challenges from the Great Recession through the COVID-19 period,” said Worthington City Council President David Robinson. “Throughout he has made more efficient the day-to-day operations of the City of Worthington while expanding our services to the public. He has brought to our city a rare combination of leadership and managerial skills. We are grateful for his dedicated service and wish him all the best as he moves on to new opportunities in service to local government”
During his service as City Manager, Greeson lead the city through a number of major projects and initiatives and assembled a highly experienced and professional leadership team and staff who work diligently to provide excellent services to the Worthington community. Greeson has fostered financial stability and successfully advanced economic development strategies to further Worthington’s position as a vibrant place to do business. Through collaborative partnerships, he oversaw the opening of the
McConnell Arts Center, major transportation infrastructure improvements such as the Northeast Gateway and I-270 interchange, and nurtured growth of the Worthington Partnership and Experience Worthington to further showcase Worthington as an excellent place to visit, live, work and play.
Greeson is a leader in many local and regional partnerships. He previously served as chair and vice chair of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and is a member of the Central Ohio Mayors and Managers Association, the Ohio and International City/County Management Associations, the Dublin-Worthington Rotary and the Worthington CARES Coalition.
“It has been an honor to serve the Worthington community,” said Greeson “I am grateful for the opportunity to live, work, raise and educate a family in such a nurturing community with so many caring community members. I am most proud to have been a part of the City of Worthington team. Together, with incredibly supportive City Councils and collaborative community partners, we’ve been able to complete impactful projects, and continuously improve already excellent City services.”
“While we will all miss Matt, he has built a very strong team of City leadership and staff, so there will be a seamless continuity of service that the public rightfully expects,” added Robinson. “We will be naming an interim City Manager while we take a very deliberative approach to attracting and securing a successor that is the right fit for our unique community.”
