199 coaches at institutions in Franklin County earned $197,132 on average in 2022

Franklin County’s 199 coaches earned an average salary of $197,132 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the second highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Ohio post-secondary schools during 2022.

Franklin County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Ohio State University-Main Campus stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $505,324.

Male coaches of men's teams received $348,344 on average in Franklin County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $117,708.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
