The Ohio State University continues to expand its portfolio of online programs, receiving significant recognition in the latest U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Online Programs Rankings. Announced on January 21, 2025, Ohio State's online bachelor's programs secured the No. 5 spot nationally. This marks the tenth year that these programs have ranked within the top ten since they were first assessed twelve years ago.

Key contributors to this ranking include several specialized bachelor’s degree offerings: the College of Nursing’s RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences’ Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and AS to Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences, and the College of Dentistry’s RDH to Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.

Ohio State stands out as the only institution in Ohio ranked within the top 50 for undergraduate online programs. The College of Nursing’s online master’s programs maintained their strong reputation, tying with Duke University at No. 3 nationally—improving from last year's No. 4 position.

The Master of Science in Nursing program at Ohio State features five specialization areas, two of which received rankings this year. The Family Nurse Practitioner specialization tied for fifth place with Drexel University and is recognized as the top-ranked public institution in its category. Meanwhile, its Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program was distinguished as a leading public institution within its field, sharing third place overall with Drexel University and George Washington University.

"Continued online program growth and excellence is driven by our shared commitment to accessibility, workforce development, affordability, serving Ohio, and increasing options and opportunities for student success," stated Jason Lemon, vice provost and dean for online learning.
