Earlier this week, Master Coach Marilou Butcher Roth engaged with one of her groups to explore the concept of The Drama Triangle. This concept is represented by a triangle where each point signifies a different role: Victim, Bully, and Hero. According to Roth, individuals can identify their roles in various dramas they encounter in life by using this triangle as a guide.

Roth explains that when someone assumes the "Victim" position on the triangle, they feel like they are at the mercy of circumstances or others. This position often involves varying degrees of discomfort. The "Bully" position involves feelings of blame or judgment towards oneself or others, which also results in dissatisfaction. Meanwhile, the "Hero" role is described as tricky because it involves wanting to help others but sometimes needing to step back.

She emphasizes that awareness is crucial for moving off the triangle and achieving authentic happiness by aligning with one's best self. Awareness provides countless opportunities to choose between staying on the triangle or moving to a happier place.

"The easiest way to know if you are 'triangling' is that you will not feel good! That is your best step to finding your happy space!" Roth advises.

Marilou Butcher Roth owns The MBR Group, which offers coaching and training services primarily for REALTORS who aim for an inspired approach to work and life. She also serves as Broker/Owner of Group REALTORS in Cincinnati and holds positions within Ohio REALTORS.
