Ohio State University President Walter "Ted" Carter Jr. extended a message to the campus community on January 6, marking the start of the spring semester. Despite disruptions caused by winter weather, Carter expressed optimism about the upcoming term and gratitude for the community's adaptability.

Carter reflected on his first year at Ohio State, noting achievements in enrollment, research, and healthcare. He emphasized that 2025 will be significant for the university as it plans to introduce a new vision for public higher education.

"I’m not just talking about our playoff run, though I can’t wait to cheer on our football team in Dallas," Carter said. "This is the year that we will put forward a new vision for the future of public higher education."

He highlighted ongoing efforts to develop strategies that align with academic excellence and accessibility. Carter believes these initiatives will distinguish Ohio State and meet evolving needs locally and globally.

"I know we’ll be up to the task," he stated. "With the talent and commitment we have in place, I believe the plan we will develop together will do nothing short of change the conversation around higher education."

Carter concluded by expressing his appreciation for everyone's contributions to Ohio State and wished them success in the new semester.
