The Ohio State University Board of Trustees has approved several measures aimed at advancing the development of the Carmenton district. This includes new leases that are anticipated to drive growth in the area. The board sanctioned a master agreement involving Ohio State, the Science and Technology Campus Corporation (SciTech), and real estate firm Tishman Speyer for the next phase of development.
Additionally, a ground lease from Ohio State to SciTech was reviewed, enabling SciTech to develop infrastructure and sublease parcels to Tishman Speyer for mixed-use projects. Carmenton is expected to feature residential areas, green spaces, trails, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
In other developments, Ross Bjork confirmed Ohio State's commitment to supporting 36 varsity sports with scholarship opportunities. The board also approved various administrative appointments across its campuses.
Further actions included the approval of a Master of Cybersecurity and Digital Trust program in collaboration with the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust and the College of Engineering’s Professional and Distance Education Program. This initiative aims to enhance the cybersecurity workforce in Ohio.
Ohio State's FY24 progress report on higher education affordability and efficiency recommendations was approved for submission to state authorities. The board also set student football ticket prices for fiscal year 2026 and golf course dues for 2025.
Amy Chronis was appointed as a charter trustee. Resolutions were passed in memoriam of several emeritus professors who have recently passed away.
The trustees approved submitting audited financial statements to the Auditor of State and made amendments to university faculty rules regarding Dean’s List recognition.
Several personnel actions were confirmed, including new appointments and extensions across various departments within the university. Degrees and certificates for autumn term 2024 were also approved.
The board authorized professional services and construction contracts for multiple projects, including airport planning services, college facility master plans, lab renovations, pharmacy buildouts, among others.
Joint use agreements were established between Ohio State and local organizations such as Mid-Ohio Food Collective. A University Foundation report detailing endowed chairs, professorships, fellowships, scholarships, and funds was approved.
Lastly, internal spaces within university facilities received official namings in honor or memory of notable individuals associated with Ohio State.
