Three generations of Ohio State University alumni have played a pivotal role in the creation of the new Daley Family Pavilion and Daley Family Terrace at the Max M. Fisher College of Business. The structure, which provides a year-round venue for events and educational programs, was dedicated during Ohio State's homecoming weekend on October 26.
The pavilion and terrace cover more than 13,000 square feet next to The Blackwell Inn, the Pfahl Conference Center, and Fisher Hall. Interim Dean Trevor Brown highlighted that the project received the 2024 Merit Award from the Ohio chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Construction began in early 2023 and concluded later that year, with events commencing earlier this year.
“Not only has it welcomed alumni events and Fisher gatherings, we have had six weddings and receptions in here,” Brown stated. “We’ve launched great families in this space.”
The Daley family’s involvement with Ohio State spans three generations: Clayton C. Daley (’51), Clayton C. Daley Jr. (’74), and Clayton C. Daley III (’06). Clayton C. Daley Jr., who primarily supported the project financially, expressed satisfaction with its outcome: “My [education] worked well for me in the 35 years I spent at Procter & Gamble. We’re happy about the fact that my family was able to fund this project,” he said.
The pavilion itself offers 3,200 square feet for sheltered activities like Fisher's annual pre-game gathering while expanding The Blackwell's capacity to host various functions including conferences and weddings. The terrace adds nearly 10,000 square feet of outdoor space.
“One of the things that I’ve always thought as I’ve looked at Fisher is this is a place that is training the next generation of business leaders,” Brown remarked. “They are remarkable at giving back, and this facility is a reflection of that."
