State Senator Brian Chavez has recently highlighted local educational and energy initiatives in a series of posts on his social media account. On April 30, 2026, Chavez commended the College of St. Joseph the Worker initiative in Steubenville, noting its impact on both education and community development.
Chavez wrote on April 30, 2026: “I am awestruck at the vision and commitment shown by the individuals involved in the College of St. Joseph the Worker initiative in Steubenville.” In a subsequent post on the same day, he added: “The combination of teaching trades skills, concurrently with a bachelors’ degree, will give these students a solid base to be successful. Additionally, the school has taken it upon themselves to purchase and restore many downtown buildings as a part of their campus.”
On May 1, 2026, Chavez turned his attention to developments in Ohio’s energy sector after visiting a production site operated by Diversified Energy. He stated: “A recent tour of a Diversified Energy production site with five Utica formation wells was informative. Diversified has progressed significantly in size, scope, and business model since the inception of the company and has grown as a major producer of natural gas and oil.”
The College of St. Joseph the Worker is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize Steubenville’s downtown area through education-focused redevelopment projects. The institution’s approach combines academic programs with practical trade training while investing in urban renewal by acquiring and renovating local properties for campus use.
Diversified Energy is recognized as one of the leading independent producers of natural gas and oil in Appalachia. The company’s operations include numerous wells across Ohio’s Utica Shale formation, contributing significantly to regional energy output.
