Representative Josh Williams, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, recently shared several updates on his social media account regarding local endorsements and legislative issues.

On September 3, 2025, Williams criticized fellow Ohio representative Marcy Kaptur’s stance on voting legislation. He stated, “Marcy Kaptur refused to vote in favor of preventing illegal aliens from voting. Her message to the millions of people who poured across the southern border is clear. I have a different message: We will deport you and you will NOT have a say in our country’s future.”

Later that day, Williams announced an endorsement from a local official. On September 3, 2025, he posted, “Honored to earn the support of Fulton County Commissioner Jon Rupp. A lifelong Franklin Township farmer & small business owner, Jon’s dedication to our community is unmatched. I’m proud to have his backing as we fight for Northwest Ohio.”

Continuing with campaign news on September 4, 2025, Williams highlighted broader support among county officials: ” The Fulton County Commissioners are united behind our campaign! Honored to have the support of Commissioners Jeff Rupp, Jon Rupp & Joe Short. Their leadership has strengthened Fulton County & Northwest Ohio. With their backing, we’re building the team to retire Marcy Kaptur.”

Marcy Kaptur has represented Ohio’s 9th congressional district since 1983 and is currently one of the longest-serving women in Congress.

The debate over non-citizen voting rights has been ongoing at both state and federal levels in recent years. While federal law prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections, some municipalities have considered or implemented measures allowing non-citizens to participate in certain local elections.
