The Ohio Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee announced on March 24 its endorsements for several key statewide primary races in Ohio, supporting candidates from both major parties who the group says are committed to improving the state’s business climate and advancing economic growth.

The endorsements include State Representative Allison Russo in the Democratic primary for Ohio Secretary of State, current Treasurer Robert Sprague in the Republican primary for Secretary of State, Senator Kristina Roegner in the Republican primary for Treasurer of State, and John Kulewicz in the Democratic primary for Attorney General. Each endorsement is made in a contested statewide race.

Steve Stivers, President & CEO of the Ohio Chamber, said, “Each of these candidates brings a track record of thoughtful leadership and a clear focus on policies that promote economic competitiveness, regulatory clarity and opportunity for Ohio employers. These endorsements reflect our commitment to supporting leaders who understand the direct connection between effective governance and a strong business environment.”

According to the release, OCCPAC’s current endorsements apply only to this year’s primary election cycle. The committee plans to review nominees after primaries conclude before making general election endorsement decisions later this year.

The press release outlines Russo’s experience as former House Minority Leader and her reputation for advancing pragmatic policy solutions as well as Sprague’s results-oriented approach through initiatives like ResultsOHIO and Ohio Gains. Roegner is recognized by OCCPAC for her background in finance and legislative support for small business growth. Kulewicz received support based on his stated commitment to regulatory predictability and fostering a legal environment favorable to investment.

OCCPAC was created in 1978 with a mission to unify business interests within state politics. The committee reports that each endorsed candidate actively sought its endorsement.
