Rep. Joyce Beatty, who represents Ohio’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media accounts this week to highlight recent meetings with veterans and seniors in Columbus, as well as to mark the 90th anniversary of Social Security.

On August 13, 2025, Beatty posted about a roundtable she held for veterans in Columbus: “ICYMI: This week, I held a roundtable in Columbus to celebrate our veterans, and hear their stories. My commitment to them was clear: to take their stories back to Washington, and fight to strengthen their benefits.”

Later that day, she addressed concerns from local seniors regarding Social Security services: “Earlier this week, Columbus seniors shared concerns that service delays and staffing cuts at the Social Security Administration are effectively cutting their benefits. This is a critical conversation with consequences for millions nationwide. Read more here:”

On August 14, Beatty commemorated the establishment of Social Security: “90 years ago today, America made a promise: after a lifetime of work, no one should fall into poverty in old age. Today, 2.5M Ohioans rely on Social Security. Over $49.8B flows into Ohio annually, supporting seniors, families, and local businesses with real economic impact.”

Joyce Beatty has represented Ohio’s 3rd District since 2013 after serving in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. She was born in Dayton in 1950 and currently resides in Columbus. Beatty graduated from Central State University with a BA in 1972.
