On March 9, 2026, Beatty wrote: “I am proud to co-lead H.R. 7688, the DPA Modernization Act, with @Rep_Davidson, @RepJuanVargas, @RepHuizenga, and @ZachNunn, which passed unanimously through House Financial Services markup last week. This bill reauthorizes the Defense Production Act until 2031, makes key”. The Defense Production Act (DPA) is a federal law that grants the president broad authority to direct industrial production for national defense purposes.

Joyce Beatty has represented Ohio’s 3rd congressional district since replacing Mike Turner in 2013. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. Born in Dayton in 1950 and currently residing in Columbus at age 73, Beatty earned her undergraduate degree from Central State University in 1972.
