U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty, who serves Ohio’s 3rd district, posted a series of statements on her official X account on February 25, 2026, addressing her decision to skip former President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address and raising concerns about political accountability.

In her first post at 2:00 a.m. UTC, Beatty wrote, “I chose to not attend Trump’s State of the Union — and here’s why. Ohio families deserve truth, accountability, and leadership that protects their rights and their wallets. Click to watch my full remarks on YouTube. https://t.co/yXdXy4WZiE https://t.co/tANLckmvuM”.

Later that morning at 2:41 a.m., Beatty thanked a colleague for their advocacy work, posting, “Thank you, @RepAlGreen, for standing up for the Obamas and Black Americans, and for speaking truth to power. https://t.co/tpDsSHOOmb”.

At 3:00 a.m., Beatty commented on an ongoing House Judiciary investigation related to the Trump family’s financial activities: “On Corruption: A House Judiciary investigation found the Trump family built an $11.6 billion crypto empire that generated more than $800 million in its first year alone. That’s what happens when power concentrates at the top and accountability disappears. The system stops”.

Joyce Beatty has represented Ohio’s 3rd congressional district since 2013 after succeeding Mike Turner in Congress. She previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008 and was born in Dayton in 1950 before earning her BA from Central State University in 1972.
