Rep. Joyce Beatty, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 3rd district, addressed several issues on her social media account between August 26 and August 27, 2025, including Federal Reserve independence, the impact of television on Black youth, and school safety.

On August 26, Rep. Beatty commented on recent developments at the Federal Reserve: “Fed Governor Lisa Cook served our country with honor and distinction. Trump’s illegal effort to fire her is a dangerous assault on a key economic pillar. The politicization of the Fed will cause financial market instability, threaten Americans’ retirement savings and mortgages &”. This statement follows reports of attempts to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from office.

Later that day, Beatty highlighted an interview with Selwyn Hinds regarding representation in media: “Catch my conversation with Selwyn Hinds, Creator and Executive Producer of ‘Washington Black’ breaking down the overall message the Hulu series Washington Black sends to Black youth, and what it means for the state of America today.

On August 27, following a shooting incident at Annunciation Catholic School, she wrote: “Every child deserves to learn and grow free from fear. Please see my statement on the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School earlier today. https://t.co/NT5Yd4p026”.

Joyce Beatty has represented Ohio’s 3rd District in Congress since 2013 after previously serving in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1999 to 2008. Born in Dayton in 1950 and currently residing in Columbus, Beatty graduated from Central State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
