Ohio State Representative Brian Stewart, a Republican legislator for Ohio House District 12, shared his views on a range of topics in a series of tweets posted between May 16 and May 17, 2026.

On May 16, Stewart responded to an earlier post with the statement, “Correct. Walloped me.” On the following day, he commented on popular culture and film reception by posting, “Let’s watch Best Picture winner EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, I love that movie!” -A quote I’ve never heard from any actual living human being.

Later on May 17, Stewart addressed the issue of capital punishment in Ohio with a tweet stating: “Everyone on Ohio’s Death Row is there because of ‘an egregious case’ of murder. Amy Acton would sadly continue the lawless ‘moratorium’ that’s been in place for the last 8 years. It’s way past time for justice to be served.”

Brian Stewart is recognized as an infantry veteran who served in the Iraq War and earned distinctions such as the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and two Army Commendation Medals (official website). He represents Madison and Pickaway counties as well as part of western Franklin County in Ohio (official website). In addition to his legislative duties—including co-chairing the first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission—Stewart has expressed interests ranging from movies and sports to American history books and music (official website).

The moratorium referenced by Stewart relates to an ongoing pause in executions within Ohio that has lasted eight years.
