The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced two new television specials to mark the franchise’s 25th season in the National Hockey League. The programs will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Ohio and made available on the team’s official YouTube channel and website.

The first special, titled “25 Years of Blue Jackets Hockey,” is a one-hour retrospective featuring interviews with current and former players, coaches, staff, and others associated with the team since its inception as an NHL expansion club in 2000. The show revisits significant events such as the inaugural game against Chicago on October 7, 2000, Rick Nash’s memorable goal known as “The Goal,” the playoff sweep of Tampa Bay, and the record-setting Stadium Series game at Ohio Stadium. It also explores how the organization has influenced the local community over 25 years. “25 Years of Blue Jackets Hockey” will premiere Saturday after live coverage of the Blue Jackets’ matchup with the New York Islanders.

A second program, “All-Time Jackets: The Quarter Century Team,” runs for 30 minutes and spotlights twelve players selected by a panel consisting of media members, retired players, and executives as part of the Blue Jackets’ Quarter-Century First and Second Teams. Those chosen for the First Team are forwards Rick Nash, Cam Atkinson, Artemi Panarin; defensemen Zach Werenski and Seth Jones; and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. The Second Team includes forwards Nick Foligno, Boone Jenner, Johnny Gaudreau; defensemen David Savard and Fedor Tyutin; plus goaltender Steve Mason. This special is set to debut Monday, March 9 following live coverage of Columbus’ game against Los Angeles.

According to club officials: “From the birth of the franchise to the inaugural game vs. Chicago on Oct. 7, 2000, from ‘The Goal’ by Rick Nash to ‘The Sweep’ of Tampa Bay, to the record-breaking Stadium Series game at Ohio Stadium, this special has it all, including a look at the club’s impact on the community over the past quarter century.”

Fans can watch both specials via FanDuel Sports Ohio or access them online through the team’s YouTube channel or official website.

The Blue Jackets will next play at home against the New York Islanders this Saturday at Nationwide Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET with pre-game coverage starting at 5:30 p.m. ET on FanDuel Sports Network. Radio broadcasts will be carried locally on Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan in Columbus as well as streamed online via BlueJackets.com.

Those interested in purchasing ticket plans for next season can submit their information online to receive details from a team representative along with an invitation for an arena tour that includes two complimentary tickets.
